Xerox May be Purchasing Kodak’s Commercial Inkjet Business

PrintWeek reports that Eastman Kodak, which will announce its quarterly financial results tomorrow, may be purchasing Kodak’s Ohio-based high-speed Prosper commercial-inkjet printer business.

According to PrintWeek:

“A source close to the situation told PrintWeek that a deal was ‘imminent’ and ‘had now been agreed’ and the purchaser was Xerox, which has long been tipped as a likely home for the business.”

Xerox acquired French commercial inkjet-printer developer Impika in 2013 for $11 billion, and has stated that it intends to grow its commercial-inkjet-printer business both internally and through acquisitions.

Xerox CEO Jeff Jacobson declined to comment when asked about the UltraStream acquisition earlier this year.

Update: Kodak has stated that it will not be selling its Prosper inkjet business – see story here.
