UBEO Acquires Texas, Conneticut Dealers

On November 13th, Texas-based UBEO Business Services, a printer, copier, and document-management solutions company, has made its eighth acquisition in the last 18 months. The firm also announced it had acquired a dealer in Connecticut (see below).

Copy Corner

UBEO acquired Copy Corner, a printing service company located in East Central Texas, for an undisclosed sum.  UBEO says its customers will now have a dedicated and reliable source for overflow printing and other outsourced needs with this deal.

Jim Sheffield, president and CEO, UBEO

Jim Sheffield, president and CEO of UBEO, commented on the acquisition:

“Copy Corner is a well-known business in the community that so many depend on for their printing needs. Having grown up in Bryan and studied here, I know that the community is tight-knit and values businesses with local ties. I’m very familiar with the Copy Corner way of doing business, which aligns with our UBEO philosophy of putting the customer first and taking care of our employees. We’re thrilled to make our partnership official.”

Copy Corner has offices in Bryan and College Station, Texas. The company was founded in 1988 by three Texas A&M students. Larry Hodges is one of the trio and will continue in his role as president of Copy Corner. Additionally, Copy Corner will retain its leadership, employees, and continue operating under its existing name, the company said.

A&A Office Systems

On November 14th, UBEO announced that it was acquiring A&A Office Systems, Inc. (A&A), a 58-year old company which provides print technology, document management, and cloud services from their 22,000-square-foot Connecticut, Massachusetts facility, 25-vehicle fleet and across southern New England. Financial terms of the transaction were not released.

Jim Sheffield, president and CEO at UBEO, commented: “After a year and a half of tremendous growth, expansion in this region was always part of our plan. We needed an exceptional partner to make this happen, and A&A is that partner.”

A&A, founded in 1961, is headquartered in Middletown, Connecticut, with a team over 80 employees, including 25 technicians that cover the state of Connecticut and western Massachusetts. A&A’s client portfolio includes those in sectors such as medical, financial, legal, state and local government, manufacturing, and primary and higher education institutions.

The acquisition marks UBEO’s first major move into the northeast U.S. after hiring James J. Morrissey to head up operations in the region in May. Morrissey will work with A&A’s President, CEO and founder, John Sullivan to manage the transition.

A key focus of the partnership will be the retention of current teams. While A&A is now a UBEO company, it will continue operating under its existing name and will retain its leadership and local support staff, including the ongoing operation of the call center located in Connecticut. UBEO says the acquisition will allow A&A to compete on a national level, with a robust support system, and potential for additional growth and local jobs.

UBEO was founded in 2004 and has operations across Texas as well as in California and Louisiana. UBEO was funded by Sentinel Capital Partners in April 2018, and seven months later acquired Ray Morgan Company, a regional leader in California.
