Hands-On Review and Videos: OKI’s C941dn Multimedia Color Printer – Pushing the Envelope of Image Quality with White and Clear Toner
Continuous Tones (Photos): Above Average.
The evaluation of color fidelity is highly subjective. That is, one person’s pink is another man’s flesh tone. Nevertheless, our evaluation of the C941dn’s output of our image-quality suite using default settings revealed very good photographic detail and no banding. Moreover, colors were subjectively vivid and easily tuned with the included software. Finally, the C941dn’s fused toner has a shiny finish, which heightens the quality of photographic images.
The OKI C941dn did an excellent job of printing the ISO “Musicians” test file using standard settings. Note that reproduction of fine detail is particularly good. As noted, the finish of the fused toner is shiny even on non-coated paper, thus enhancing the apparent image quality.
In our tests, printers historically wash out the area under the awning on the far right of this ISO “Cafe” test file. With prints from the C941dn, fine details were printed with exceptional clarity. to the point that one can even read the text on the oval-shaped logo peeking out from above the orange chairs.
