Ninestar Said to be Selling Lexmark’s Kofax Division

Reuters reports that China’s Ninestar Corporation – previously known as Apex Technology, which, along with a consortium of investors acquired Lexmark International last year – will sell Lexmark International’s Kofax software division to Project Leopard Company for $1.319 billion, or CNY 9.086 billion

Ninestar is said to be focusing on printers and supplies.

Last month, Thoma Bravo, a private-equity firm, announced that it entered into a definitive agreement with Lexmark to acquire Lexmark’s Enterprise Software business, which is made up of three primary businesses: Kofax, ReadSoft, and Perceptive Software. The firm did not disclose a purchase price, although Reuters had reported that the purchase price was $1.5 billion. At that time, Thoma Bravo also said it would establish the Kofax and ReadSoft businesses as a single, newly independent Thoma Bravo portfolio company under the Kofax brand, which would be led by Reynolds C. Bish, current president of Lexmark Enterprise Software.
