Next-Gen PaperCut MF Features New Security Upgrades, More

PaperCut Software, a provider of print-management and document-workflow solutions, today released version 24.1 of its flagship software, PaperCut MF.

The new release introduces new features that include document-scanning reporting and archiving capabilities, as well as support for Windows Protected Print Mode. (Windows Protected Print Mode (WPP) is a security-enhanced printing platform for Microsoft Windows that uses Internet Printing Protocol to eliminate the need for third-party drivers, which is said to deter security risks.)

The new PaperCut update also features a streamlined Print Deploy support interface.

Following is a closer look at key updates:

Scan Reporting: Provide visibility into workplace document scanning by detailing who, what, and where scans are conducted. Reports can be filtered by user, department, or device and scheduled for delivery.

Scan Archiving: Provides auditing, with the ability to save, review, and export scanned documents alongside associated metadata for enhanced security.

Windows Protected Print Mode (WPP) Compatibility: Supports Microsoft’s next-generation print-driverless printing platform, ensuring smooth transitions for users adapting to modern print workflows.

Print Deploy Enhancements: Provides a Client Management Interface for easier troubleshooting and new granular administration rights for more tailored access control.

Enhanced Security with Document Auditing

The release is also said to address the growing demand for security in print management. With scan archiving now complementing existing print-archiving capabilities, organizations can safeguard sensitive data by auditing all document-related activities. Additionally, the inclusion of WPP-ready features provides a transition to Microsoft’s enhanced print ecosystem while maintaining compatibility for legacy workflows.
