Meg Whitman Steps Down as CEO of HP Enterprise
As reported by Reuters, Meg Whitman is stepping down from her position as CEO of HP Enterprise.
Whitman was with Hewlett-Packard for six years, during which she oversaw the breakup of HP into HP Enterprise (HPE) – which is devoted to computer servers and business software – and HP Inc., which is devoted to PCs and printing. Whitman was also at one time a candidate for governor of California.
In February 2018, Antonio Neri will be taking over for Whitman. He is an HP executive who’s been with HP for almost 25 years and currently serves as HPE’s president. Neri is a trained computer engineer and has worked in every one of HPE’s businesses, Whitman said during the company’s earnings call on Tuesday.
“We have a much smaller, much nimbler, much more focused company,” Whitman said during the call. “I think it is absolutely the right time for Antonio and a new generation of leaders to take the reins.”
Neri will join HPE’s board of directors and Whitman will remain on the board as well.
