Kyocera Mita Acquires Office Dealer in India as Part of Asian Market Expansion Strategy

Kyocera Mita India Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of the Kyocera Group in Japan, has acquired the copier division of Kilburn Office Automation Ltd., which markets and services digital copiers, MFPs, and printers in India under the Kyocera brand name. The acquisition is part of Kyocera’s strategy to increase its market share in India, China, Korea and other Asian countries, with Kyocera Mita Asia President M. Higuchi, noting, “Kyocera plans to triple the March 2012 (FY-2011) sales amount by March 2014 (FY-2013) in China, India, Korea and ASEAN countries, and among them, India’s role is essential for success. The acquisition of Kilburn is an important foundation to achieve Kyocera’s aim to become a top group in India’s printers and multifunctional printers industry.”

The firm says the new acquisition will enable Kyocera Mita India to provide products and document solutions to Indian customers through the direct sales team and as well as through channel partners. Kyocera Mita will be leveraging the customer relationship built over the years by Kilburn in major government and corporate customers.

He also said that this acquisition clearly demonstrated Kyocera Mita Corporation’s commitment to invest and grow in the Indian market to rapidly achieve their final objective.

Kyocera Mita India Managing Director Swetharanya commented, “With this acquisition, we will be taking on board 108 employees of Kilburn and (a) vast majority of their Channel Partners with more than 9,000 direct MIF, and the large customer base across the country. It will give us a direct presence in 15 major cities. Kyocera Mita will be investing heavily in channel expansion, dealer development and technical skill upgradation (sic) to enhance our customer satisfaction.”
