Kodak Alaris Releases Apple Mac Drivers for 13 Document and Photo Scanners
Kodak Alaris reports that it’s releasing Apple Macintosh drivers for 13 of its document and photo scanners. With the free download, a wide range of Kodak Alaris’ imaging scanners are now compatible with the Apple OS X operating system as well as with Microsoft Windows and Linux.
“Historically, PC users have had far more choice than Mac users when shopping for compatible document scanners,” commented Tony Barbeau, general manager of products and solutions and vice president of Document Imaging at Kodak Alaris. “But scanning happens in mixed-platform environments and users have their own preferences. We are committed to supporting business scanning applications, regardless of whether the PC or MAC platform is preferred. Users can now make their own choice.”
Kodak Alaris launched its first scanner in 1989. Since then, it’s shipped over 1 million scanners.
As part of the free Mac-driver download for existing and new customers, Kodak Alaris is also including NewSoft’s Presto! PageManager version 9, which integrates Kodak Alaris’ Perfect Page image processing and makes it simpler to scan, organize, and share information in a business scanning environment. The software allows users to create, edit, and manage PDF files without requiring other applications or file conversion software.
The following scanners from Kodak Alaris are now compatible with Mac computers:
- Desktop – the Scanmate i940, i1150 and i1180 Scanners, as well as the i2000 Series Scanners. The i2000 Series features a “stow-or-go” design, which allows users to store the scanner upright when not in use and pull it out for scanning.
- Production – All i3000 Series Scanners, including the i3450, an A3 low-volume production scanner with integrated A4 flatbed scanning platform.
- Photo scanning – both the Picture Saver Scanner Systems, the PS 50 and 80, which allow users to scan up to 85 photos a minute.
“Traditionally the realm of Microsoft, Apple is targeting the enterprise far more today,” said Barbeau. “With the launch of our new Mac drivers, professional-class scanners are available to suit every customer need. Clearly, removing paper and incorporating documents digitally into workflows boosts productivity and reduces costs for practically all organizations seeking to increase efficiency.”
Those interested in scanners that are Mac-compatible can access the free Mac drivers and applications for the Kodak Scanmate i940, Scanmate i1150, Scanmate i1180, i2400, i2600, i2800, i2900, i3200, i3250, i3400, and i3450 Scanners on each model’s product information page.
