Hands-On Test Report, Photos, and Video: Another Rare ‘True’ Large-Format All-in-One: Brother’s INKvestment MFC-J6925dw

Management
Aside from HP’s “Enterprise” series, Brother’s management capabilities stand head and shoulders above all other desktop printers in its class: compatibility with Brother’s BRAdmin Professional and Web fleet management solutions with BRPrint Auditor for locally connected printers; Remote Settings Utility for easy local setup and configuration; highly competent Embedded Web Server (EWS) with local user account administration that includes ID and Pin access with function lock settings (e.g.: no color printing or media port access) and print quotas. The only thing that is missing is domain-level network authentication which is a rarity among SMB printers.

The Brother MFC-J6925dw EWS (Embedded Web Server) is accessed by entering its network IP address into the address bar of a Web browser. Here, virtually every monitoring and setup option can be performed remotely.

As shown, the Embedded Web Server is used to configure local user authentication, function lock and user print quotas.

Maintenance
Replacing the four separate ink cartridges is very easy. Simply unwrap the four CYMK ink cartridges, open the front cover, remove the plastic sealing device, unlatch and pull out the depleted cartridge, slide the new color-coded ink cartridge into its color-coded slot, press it in until the latch pops up, and then close the cover. Replacing the four separate ink cartridges is very easy, and even novice users should be able to quickly and easily replace ink cartridges.

Open a front cover unit for access to the ink cartridges.

Misfeed access from the DADF and top, front and rear of the unit is very good, as there is plenty of space provided to search for and remove misfeeds. That said, we did not experience any misfeeds during testing.
