Test Results and Observations

Tested Scan Speed
In the tests, originals with equal amounts of CYMK text and a total of 5% coverage were scanned at 25.3 ipm in simplex mode and 50.6 ipm in duplex mode, which is faster than Brother’s rated scan speed of 24/48 ipm.

Original Handling
Throughout the tests, we observed reliable original handling, with no misfeeding, double-feeding, etc. occurring.

Feature Set
The ADS-2500We has a versatile feature set that includes a 50-sheet automatic document feeder with single-pass duplex scanning; TWAIN, WIA, ICA and ISIS scan drivers; mobile scanning from Android and Apple iOs devices; and the ability to scan ID and business cards (including embossed cards) and fragile originals.

A generous suite of software is included: Brother ControlCenter 4 for Windows; ControlCenter 2 for Mac; Nuance Image Viewer, PDF Viewer and Paper Port 12 SE for Windows; PageManager 9 for Mac; and Presto! BizCard 6 for Windows, the last of which is for importing information scanned from business cards into a contact-management database.

 

A broad range of scan destinations are available, including:  file, image, email, FTP, OCR, Print, USB 2.0 flash-memory devices, network folder, email server, cloud locations (BR-DOCS; Google Drive; Evernote and Evernote Business; Dropbox; Box; and Microsoft OneDrive, OneNote and SharePoint via the included Paper Port 12 SE software.
