Fujifilm Rolls Out New A3 Color Copier/MFPs with 84-Percent Reused Parts

Fujifilm Business Innovation Asia Pacific today launched two A3 color remanufactured copier/MFPs: the ApeosPort-VII C5573 R and C3373 R. It says these models, which are part of the ApeosPort-VII C series, offer the guaranteed quality of brand-new products, and reduce environment impact with their parts reuse rate of up to 84 percent by weight. Sales will begin November 21st in the Asia Pacific region.

The company says its designed the ApeosPort-VII C5573 R and C3373 R on the principle that collected products are not waste – instead, they are seen as valuable resources that can be reused in other meaningful ways.

Guaranteed Quality as Brand New Products

The ApeosPort-VII C5573 R and C3373 R are manufactured from collected machines. Upon collection from customers, a systematic assessment is undertaken to classify them as either “reuse” or “recycling” based on their condition.

Collected machines suitable for reuse are then transported to the production facility. Once there, they will be disassembled to a component level. Careful inspection and diagnosis are conducted to identify the parts that are suitable for reuse.

Parts that cannot be reused are sorted according to the material they are made of, and then passed to the company’s recycling partners. Reusable parts are cleaned and repaired before being sent for reassembly.

Fujifilm says each remanufactured model undergoes the same rigorous inspection process as newly built printers, to ensure they meet the same quality and reliability standards.

Remanufacured with Reduced Environmental Impact in Mind

According to the company, the remanufactured models have a significantly reduced environmental impact, with 84 percent of their parts by weight consisting of reused parts. They’re also said to have reduced lifecycle emissions of 53 percent compared to newly built printers.

Remanufacturing methods include blast technology to remove yellowing from used exterior plastic covers.

Remanufactured with the Customer Experience in Mind

The ApeosPort-VII C5573 R and C3373 R are also said to feature an enhanced user experience with features such as a 10.1-inch operation panel with tilt functionality. The operation panel also supports intuitive tap-and-swipe operations similar to smartphone operation. There’s also a center tray notification light, and a gently closing paper tray.

Main features of the ApeosPort-VII C5573 R / C3373 R inclue:

  • The ApeosPort-VII C5573 R prints at 55 ppm, while the ApeosPort-VII C3373 R prints at 35 ppm (in both color and monochrome for both models).
  • A Duplex Automatic Document Feeder scans both sides simultaneously at up to 154 ppm.
  • Fujifilm’s Super EA-Eco Toner lowers the fusing temperature by approximately 10℃ compared to EA-Eco toner, reducing power consumption.
  • 1,200 x 2,400 dpi resolution is enhanced with smallest toner particle size in the industry.
  • Equipped with Smart WelcomEyes: This sensor detects users, automatically waking the device from sleep mode, enhancing energy efficiency and ease of use.
  • Instant Heating IH-Fuser Technology provides a rapid recovery time of 5 seconds or less from sleep mode. This provides both low power consumption in sleep mode and the convenience of being ready to use when desired.
  • A Notification Light in the center output tray reminds users to collect printed documents.
  • A new retractable tray  closes automatically with a gentle touch.
  • Security features include TLS 1.3 compatibility and network communications encryption.

Resource Circulation Initiatives

Since 1995, Fujifilm Business Innovation says it’s implemented a comprehensive company-wide recycling policy and resource-circulation system. This initiative encompasses the entire product lifecycle, from product planning, development to manufacturing and disposal. As a result, the company has successfully reused components collected from customers through reuse/recycle technologies, turning them back into valuable resources.

In May 2024, the company established a new target to further enhance its resource circulation efforts, aiming to reduce their natural resource input ratio to 60 percent or less by FY2030. To achieve this, it says it will continue to expand and enhance the reuse of printers and MFPs, toner cartridges, spare parts, and more, as well as by increasing the use of recycled materials, including recycled plastic and steel.
