Fujifilm Launches New Apeos Connect Software Development Kit
On November 12th, Fujifilm Business Innovation released Apeos Connect, a Software Development Kit (SDK) designed to enable developers to create custom applications for its recently launched Apeos MFPs using the Apeos iiX1 and eXtensible Customize Platform2 (XCP) frameworks.
Apeos Connect is a software development kit that uses the Apeos iiX framework that links the Fujifilm Apeos series with software that runs on a server, and provides an eXtensible Customize Platform that allows installing Java-based plugins on MFP to customize the MFP’s functions.
Designed as a development support service for businesses that wish to make their own services work with the Apeos series, Apeos Connect provides software developers with essential tools and resources to create tailored solutions, connecting the Apeos series with external services. Using standard technologies like XML and SOAP protocols, Fujifilm says Apeos Connect makes the integration process faster, reducing time and effort.
Key features of Apeos Connect include:
- Apeos iiX Framework: This framework enables seamless linkage between Apeos MFPs and external Web services, enhancing compatibility with third-party applications through open specifications.
- XCP Framework: Developers can customize the functions of Apeos MFPs without modifying the firmware by installing Java-based plugins. This is said to allow for flexible modifications, such as custom user interfaces and enhanced functions, with minimal development time.
- Development and Testing Environment: Apeos Connect provides a free cloud-based simulator that mimics MFP behaviour, allowing developers to test applications in a virtual environment without needing physical devices.
- By joining the Apeos Connect program, members gain access to detailed technical information, libraries, sample code, and ongoing support. Post-sales assistance is provided through Fujifilm Business Innovation’s Web site and email.
Apeos Connect Plans and Pricing
Apeos Connect is available through two plans, both of which are free of charge for five years for approved applicants. The Apeos Connect Basic Plan provides technical specifications and inquiry support, while the Option Plan includes the full SDK, access to the cloud-based simulator, and advanced support services.
