EFI Announces New Acquisition and Digital Textile Printer
Electronics for Imaging (EFI) announced today that it’s acquired Inèdit Software S.L. for an undisclosed sum, and a new digital textile printer.
Inèdit Software S.L.
Inèdit Software is.a developer of raster image processors (RIPs) and related software for digital industrial textile printing. The acquisition is said to extend EFI’s strategy to accelerate digital transformation in industrial print through investments that advance the company’s presence and capabilities in Packaging & Corrugated, Display Graphics, Textile, and Building Materials/Décor applications. Inèdit will be integrated into the Reggiani textile business.
EFI CEO and Executive Chairman Jeff Jacobson commented: “Digital represents the biggest transformational opportunity we have ever seen in industrial printing. We are committed to driving innovation and expanding our offerings through all economic cycles as we address our customers’ critical need to digitize and automate their workflows.”
Based in Barcelona, Spain, EFI says Inèdit will help build on the market leadership of the EFI Reggiani portfolio of digital inkjet printing products for the industrial textile market.
Similar to EFI’s Fiery digital front end and RIP technologies for the digital commercial and industrial printing markets, Inèdit’s neoStampa product is said to be a worldwide leader and recognized benchmark solution for RIPs in digital textile printing.
The Inèdit product portfolio features workflow solutions for textile profiling, calibration, design integration, and more. Inèdit’s RIP technology is employed across the worldwide textile industry and is a leading RIP used to drive EFI Reggiani digital printers and other digital industrial textile printer brands. As part of EFI Reggiani, Inèdit will continue to support products for a broad range of digital printers.
Inèdit’s employees are joining EFI Reggiani but will continue to work from their current offices.
New EFI Reggiani ecoTERRA Digital Textile Printer
EFI also previewed its new Reggiani ecoTERRA Digital Textile Printer display-graphics and industrial textile printer at the recent FESPA Global Print Expo.
The new Reggiani ecoTERRA pigment solution is said to provide reduced water and energy consumption. Scheduled for availability later this year the printer is said to be an all-in-one solution for water-based pigment printing that requires no additional equipment for pre- and post-treatment.
EFI says users will benefit from ecoTERRA’s ability to deliver excellent wet and dry fastness, sharpness in detail, and high durability, along with longer print-head life with reduced maintenance costs. Its ink range features seven colors – cyan, magenta, yellow, black, blue, red and green – for an expanded color gamut.
An enhanced polymerisation and finishing unit for the EFI Reggiani ecoTERRA is also said to give the fabric a softer hand feel, in line with the most textile industry requirements.
