ECi Acquires MPS Solution Provider Print Audit

On December 5th, ECi Software Solutions, which provides cloud-based business-management solutions and which is privately held by Apax Partners and The Carlyle Group, announced that it had  acquired Print Audit, a global provider of device and print-management solutions, for an undisclosed sum.

This isn’t the first MPS-solution provider ECi has acquired: back in January, ECi acquired PrintFleet, which provides printer/copier device management and assessment software solutions.

Print Audit’s product suite includes tools for managed print services (MPS), device data collection and document-management for both office-equipment dealers and office users. Print Audit will become part of ECi’s Field Service Division, and the team will report to ECi Field Service President Laryssa Alexander.

Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Calgary, Canada, Print Audit is said to not only helps dealers remotely manage their printer/copier fleets, but the company has also developed a variety of tools that enable organizations to monitor and control user printing behavior. Print Audit is the first provider of remote monitoring and management services (RMM) to provide a seat-based billing (SBB) model for managed print.

With this acquisition, ECi adds print-rule and document-management capabilities to its own software offerings, and says it’s creating one of the most comprehensive suites of services for the office equipment industry.

Ron Books, CEO of ECi, commented: “ECi is committed to offering world-class software solutions for our office equipment and managed print services customers, and we’re always looking for opportunities to improve those offerings,” said  “Print Audit is the perfect addition to our suite, giving us the opportunity to add valuable capabilities to our offerings for the benefit of our customers.”

John MacInnes, CEO and founder of Print Audit, commented: “Office-equipment dealers are facing a changing landscape, and they need new tools and business models to help them adapt to the current landscape. Combining forces with ECi will give our products the reach and our customers the increased resources they need to reach their full potential for success.”

The deal closed on November 30th,and terms of the deal were not disclosed.
