Contex Brings Large-Format Scanning to the Desktop with SD One

Contex SD OneFebruary 6, 2015 – Contex, which markets wide-format scanning and imaging solutions, is introducing the market’s first wide-format desktop scanner, the SD One, which it says is ideal for scanning over-size engineering and construction drawings for immediate sharing via the cloud. The SD One is available in 24″ and 36″ formats, and is bundled with Nextimage FREE scanning software. The scanner, which may be equipped with an optional stand, is available now from authorized Contex resellers worldwide.

“This is the first time that a wide-format scanner has been designed to be placed on someone’s desk,” commented Morten Nielsen, global marketing director for Contex. “The SD One is a convenient tool that is within immediate reach, allowing users to instantly capture documents, as-builts, and other design changes as they are received. It’s a tremendous timesaver.”

With built-in cloud connectivity, the new SD One lets users scan all of their wide-format documents and save them to their accounts at Google Drive, Dropbox, Box.com, or Microsoft OneDrive, and with date and time stamping.

The SD One scans up to 36″ hard-copy documents at up to 600 dpi resolution. Energy Star-certified, it’s bundled with the previously noted Nextimage FREE software, as well as with Nextimage TWAIN driver, with automated software updates. The scanning software features automatic image quality adjustments for instant “cleanup” and alignment of scanned originals. Scanned images can be converted into JPG, TIF, PDF, and PDF/A file formats. Nextimage FREE also comes with an integrated image viewer and enables automatic file naming. The software is available in Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Russian, and Polish.
