Chinese Government Says China’s Commercial-Printing Market Now Second Largest
China’s People’s Daily Online reports that China became the world’s second-largest printing market in 2013, according to government statistics released at an event in Shanghai, China, on July 11th.
Statistics released by China’s State Administration of Press Publication, Radio, Film and Television at China (Shanghai) International Printing Week, an exposition for China’s commercial and packing printing industry, showed that China’s printing-industry revenue exceeded one trillion yuan (about $160 billion in U.S. dollars) in 2013, up 9.3 percent year-over-year, and ranking China second worldwide.
China boasts 105,000 printing companies with over 3.4 million employees, according to Wang Yanbin, head of China’s Printing and Issuing Department. Yanbin said that the industry has witnessed fast growth in international trade.
For instance, for the recent 2014 Brazil World Cup, authorized printed materials were manufactured by a Chinese company.
“More Chinese firms are eyeing the world printing market. During the event, a sales order platform was launched to target markets in Europe, America and the Middle East,” Wang said.
