Canon’s New ‘Different Class’ of SMB Printers with Bigger Toner Yields, 3-Year Warranty, Faster Print Speed

Canon U.S.A. today launched four new models that refresh and replace its Color imageCLASS desktop printers and All-in-Ones. Designed to provide performance that’s “closer on par with equipment sold to larger offices for small businesses and home offices,” but in a smaller size, the new laser-based models consist of the Color imageCLASS MF733Cdw, MF731Cdw, MF634Cdw, and MF632Cdw printers, which have minimally advertised prices (MAP) of $529, $489, $399, and $349 respectively, and all of which print and scan on up to legal-size (8.5″ x 14″) media.

The new portfolio – which Canon is marketing as a “Different Class of Printers” – will be available in the coming weeks at the Canon Online Store, as well as through retailers and resellers.

Canon says the new models provide enhanced performance and more vivid, vibrant image quality compared with predecessor. All four models use new higher-yield consumables and feature a new standard limited three-year warranty backed by Canon’s “one hundred percent” U.S.-based service and support network.

The Color imageCLASS MF733Cdw and MF634Cdw models are All-in-Ones with print, scan, copy, and fax, while the MF731Cdw and MF632Cdw are “three-in-ones” with print, scan, and copy.

The Color imageCLASS MF733Cdw and MF731Cdw are designed for a recommended monthly print volume of approximately 750 to 4,000 pages and allow for an expandable paper capacity of up to 850 sheets.

Alternatively, the MF634Cdw and MF632Cdw models are positioned for those printing at a recommended monthly print volume of approximately 200 to 2,500 pages, and have a paper capacity of up to 151 sheets.

New Control Panel and Touchscreen

The touchscreen for all four models has been increased from 3.5″ to 5″, representing a “best in class” industry screen size for the MF634Cdw and MF632Cdw, and to allow for more on-screen options and features, smartphone-like operation, and a digital QWERTY keyboard to help users enter data more easily. The display also provides visual guides to assist users in using the device as well as for troubleshooting.

There’s also a built-in Wi-Fi Direct connection, enabling users to print from smartphones and tablets without having to access a separate network.

A remote user interface also allows users to access the status of their job, including paper and toner status, from their smart devices

Faster Print Speeds

Canon says the new models also feature “major speed upgrades” from their predecessors, with MF730 Series models now printing at up to 28 ppm, and at up to 19 ppm for the MF630 Series models.

The imageCLASS MF733Cdw and MF634Cdw models both feature single-pass, two-sided scanning for more efficient processing of double-sided documents by scanning both sides of the original document in one pass through the duplexing, automatic document feeder.

Canon V2 Color-Printing Technology

The new imageCLASS printers use Canon’s V2 color-printing technology that Canon says is typically reserved for more expensive imaging equipment in order to expand the new models’ the color-reproduction rage for more vivid and vibrant output.

Through V2 technology, printed documents feature improved color saturation, as well as improved sharpness in order to highlight details and heighten color.

Larger-Capacity Toner Cartridges

All four new models can use new all-in-one high-page-yield and standard page-yield consumables that Canon says are significantly larger than predecessor versions.

The MF730 models offer 6,300 pages (black) and 5,000 pages (cyan, magenta, and yellow) high-yield cartridges, as well as standard-version consumables offering 2,200 pages (black) and 2,300 pages for each cyan, magenta, and yellow cartridge.

The MF630 models offer 2,800 pages (black) and 2,200 pages (cyan, magenta, and yellow) high-yield cartridges, as well as standard-version consumables offering 1,400 pages (black) and 1,300 pages for each cyan, magenta, and yellow cartridge.
