Brother Rolls Out Next-Gen Inkjet All-in-Ones Built on New MAXIDRIVE Platform

Brother International U.S.A. today introduced the newest models in its INKvestment Tank color-inkjet All-in-One family, the MFC J5885DW, MFC-J6555DW, and MFC-J6955DW, all of which are A3 desktop models. It also introduced its first-ever model in the Brother Workhorse Series that will be sold through authorized Brother dealers only.

MAXIDRIVE Inkjet-Printing Technology

The new models include up to one year of ink, based on average monthly print volumes of approximately 300 pages at 60 percent black pages 40-percent color pages. They’re also built on Brother’s MAXIDRIVE Inkjet Technology, Brother’s next generation of inkjet-printing technology.

Brother says its MAXIDRIVE inkjet-printing technology incorporates a re-engineered inkjet print head to help minimize print-head degradation and maximize print speeds versus previous generations. It’s also said to provide better image quality and durability, and more uniform printing, even with long-term use.

The new models feature:

  • 11″ x 17″ print, copy, scan, and fax, as well as 50-page capacity automatic document feeder, 100-sheet multipurpose tray, and 250-sheet paper tray.
  • Flexible connectivity options include built-in dual band wireless (2.4GHz / 5GHz), Wi-Fi Direct, Ethernet network interface, and USB port . The Brother Mobile Connect application for mobile devices provides product set up, mobile print and scan, maintenance, and more.
  • Triple Layer Security features to securely connect to devices and network while printing.
  • Models are Energy Star and EPEAT Silver certified. Optional Eco Mode and Ink Save Mode help reduce power consumption and ink use, plus automatic duplex printing.

A standard-yield black ink cartridge is priced at $34.99 and yields up to 3,000 pages, while standard yield cyan, yellow, and magenta ink cartridges are each priced at $24.99 and yield up to 1,500 pages. A high-yield black cartridge is priced at $58.99 and yields up to 6,000 pages, while high-yield cyan, yellow, and magenta cartridges are priced at $65.49 and yield up to 5,000 pages.

MFC-J5855DW  ($299.99) –  Provides print, copy, scan, and fax and is rated at up to 30 ppm in black and color. Features 3.5″ color touch screen and print-from-and-scan-to popular Cloud apps such as Google Docs, Dropbox, Evernote, and OneDrive. Brother also launched two other new All-in-Ones, the MFC-J5340DW and MFC-J5955DW, the latter of which is the first-ever color inkjet in the Brother Workhorse Series sold through Brother Gold Authorized partners.

Both models also feature Brother’s Triple Level Security, and provide print, copy, scan and fax on up to 11″ x 17″ media.

MFC-J5340DW ($249.99) – Provides print, copy, scan, and fax and is rated at up to 28 ppm in black and color. Features a 2.7″ touch screen, dual-band wireless (2.4GHz/5GHz), Brother Mobile Connect App, and is built on Brother’s MAXIDRIVE inkjet-printing technology. There’s also a 50-sheet automatic document feeder (no duplex scanning), 250-sheet paper tray, and two-year warranty. Brother does not provide information on ink cartridges.

MFC-J5955DW – Same as model above, but is rated at up to 30 ppm in black and color, but adds an additional 250-sheet paper tray and a 3.5″ touch screen, and is available only through authorized Brother dealers.
