Brother Launches EcoPro Supplies-Subscription Program

Brother International U.K. recently introduced a supplies-subscription program, similar to those offered by HP Inc. and Epson, for its desktop printers and All-in-Ones. Under these plans, the customer typically signs up for a monthly fee, and the vendor automatically ships them ink or toner before it runs out, with the vendor monitoring the customer’s Internet-connected printer’s consumables’ level.

With the Brother program, users select their subscription type (color or monochrome laser, or inkjet), plan. There are two plans for color-laser printers and All-in-Ones:

  • A 12-month plan priced at £29.99 (approximately U.S. $40.00) per month, for printing up to 6,000 pages per year, saving users up to 70 percent on supplies,
  • A 24-month plan priced at £25.99 (approximately U.S. $34.00) per month, also for printing up to 6,000 pages per year, saving users up to 70 percent on supplies.

Two plans are  available monochrome laser printers and All-in-Ones:

  • A 12-month plan priced at £13.00 (approximately U.S. $17) per month, for printing up to 6,000 pages per year, saving users up to 70 percent on supplies,
  • A 24-month plan priced at £10.00 (approximately U.S. $13.23) per month, for printing up to 6,000 pages per year, saving users up to 70 percent on supplies.

Inkjet printers and All-in-Ones are also covered, and there are two plans:

  • A 12-month plan priced at £14.99 (approximately U.S. $20.00) per month, for printing up to 6,000 pages per year, saving users up to 70 percent on supplies,
  • A 24-month plan priced at £13.00 (approximately U.S. $17) per month, for printing up to 6,000 pages per year, saving users up to 70 percent on supplies.

For a limited time (until March 31, 2021), Brother is also offering a £1 per month plan.

Offsetting CO2e Emissions

Brother says it provides free cartridge return and recycling, as well as a CO2e -emission offset program.

When the user sets up their subscription, Brother says it will offset the emissions associated with the printer and the initial supplies supplied. As the subscription continues and Brother sends the requested supplies, Brother will account for these supplies and offset them too.

Customers will also be able to monitor the total CO2e offset for their subscription via a dedicated online EcoPro portal.
