ABBYY Relocating Headquarters to ‘Silicon Hills’ in Austin, Texas

On October 10th, intelligent-automation and document-workflow provider ABBYY announced it’s relocating its global headquarters from California to Austin, Texas. The firm says it will be joining other leading tech companies like Google, Apple, Tesla, HP Inc., and Oracle in the region’s growing “Silicon Hills.” It also says the move is part of its broader transformation, with new leadership and streamlined operations aimed at strengthening ABBYY’s position as a leader in intelligent document processing, process intelligence, and intelligent automation.

As a leader, we are constantly transforming and trying to improve ourselves,” commented Ulf Persson, CEO at ABBYY. “Relocating our headquarters to Austin, where our product leadership team already is, places us at the heart of a growing tech ecosystem. Together with our development centers in the U.S., India, and Hungary, we’re tapping into top global talent in AI, machine learning, and product development to drive our next phase of growth and innovation.”

ABBYY says the headquarters relocation comes at a pivotal moment for the compan, as the company continues to invest in the future of AI, bringing in new leaders and refining its product and customer operations.

ABBYY also announced that Hopeful Owitti has joined the company as Vice President of Customer Experience, bringing expertise from leading customer care at OutSystems. Nick Hyatt, formerly of Ionic, will also join ABBYY as Vice President of Engineering, to strengthen ABBYY’s engineering and development efforts.

To maximize operational efficiency and compliance amidst the transformation and rapid growth, ABBYY has appointed Roman Kilun to Chief Compliance Officer. Kilun will report directly to Persson and will be responsible for ensuring that ABBYY maintains a comprehensive and rigorous compliance program across global operations.

Jean also said ABBYY is looking to expand its global development centers in India and Hungary.
