Canon U.S.A. today launched the its new PIXMA G6020 All-In-One Printer ($299.99 MSRP) and PIXMA G5020 MegaTank Single-Function Printer ($249.99 MSRP). These new color-inkjet PIXMA G-series MegaTank printers further extend Canon’s MegaTank  lineup and are  said to be ideal for high-print volume printing with low maintenance.

Canon explains that the “magic” of its PIXMA G-series MegaTank printers lies with their continuous ink supply system (CISS). Featuring ink bottles with spill-resistant tops, the ink-supply system is designed to provide easy and clean ink re-filling at home and in the office.

The black ink bottle provides up to 6,000 pages, while the total color ink combination (cyan, yellow, magenta) required to create color images provides up to 7,700 pages. (Note that estimated page yields are based on the Canon individual test method using the ISO/IEC 24712 chart and continuous printing simulation with the replacement ink bottles after initial setup. Page yield for color inks is an average yield of cyan, magenta, and yellow inks combined. Canon notes that page yield “varies significantly” depending on content printed and other factors.)

Both new models also feature automatic two-sided duplex printing along with a 350-page paper capacity provided by front and rear paper trays. They also feature faster print speeds than the previous generation of MegaTank printers, with Canon rating them at ISO 13 (black)/6.8 (color) ppm.

The new PIXMA G6020 and PIXMA G5020 printers both also feature wireless connectivity via Wi-Fi and, for users of compatible mobile devices, the added benefit of access to the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app, allowing for easy setup and basic operations on compatible smartphone devices. Through the Canon PRINT app, users can easily access PIXMA Cloud Link to print photos and documents from popular online social platforms and services, such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Photobucket, Dropbox, Evernote, Google Drive, and Microsoft OneDrive.

The PIXMA G6020 printer also supports the Apple AirPrint software feature and the Google Cloud Print web-printing service for printing from the Gmail email service and the Google Docs web-based word-processing program on compatible mobile devices and from the Google Chrome browser for Apple Mac, Microsoft Windows, Linux, and Chrome OS operating systems.
