New Brother TAA-Compliant Printers for U.S. Government

On December 4th, Brother International new document-imaging devices designed to meet security requirements in the public sector. Brother says that TAA compliance was a driving factor for these new business-class products.

TAA refers to the Trade Agreements Act (19 U.S.C. & 2501-2581), which is intended to foster fair and open international trade. TAA requires that the U.S. government may acquire only “U.S. – made or designated country end products. This act requires that contractors must certify that each end product meets the applicable requirements. End products are ‘those articles, materials and supplies to be acquired for public use’.” This includes items which have been “substantially transformed” in the United States.

The new Brother Workhorse TAA compliant devices include the HL-L6400DWG monochrome laser printer and the MFC-L6900DWG monochrome MFP/All-in-One.

The devices’ document security includes with three lines of defense: network, device, and document. The Brother public sector printing solutions are said to provide the flexibility to meet specific business requirements with optional features such as language-translation services, secure print release, and a custom user interface.

Government customers have access to several document management strategies from Brother, including a balanced deployment approach which seeks to “right-size” an agency’s output environment based on needs, total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis, and the Brother Value Print Program, a managed print solution that offers limited warranty extensions and discounts on Brother Genuine Supplies. Via consultation with field service engineers, business analysts, and customers, the Brother Special Solutions Team can also customize Brother products and solutions for government customers.

The HL-6400WDG is priced at $1029.99 and features:

  • 52-ppm print speed and designed for mid-size to large workgroups.

The MFC-L6900DWG is the MFP configuration, is priced at $1,649.99, and adds copy, fax, and automatic document feeder. It also features:
