Visual Edge Technology Makes 30th Acquisition

Visual Edge Technology of North Canton, Ohio, is continuing its dealer-acquisition march, reporting last week that it’s acquired its 30th office equipment company, Dunn’s Business Solutions, for an undisclosed sum. Dunn’s Business Solutions is a  40-year old, independent office-equipment, furniture, and supply company located in Gaylord, Michigan.

Last week, Visual Edge also announced that it had acquired three other office-equipment dealers, Business Technology Partners, Office Systems, and N2N Technologies (see story here).

When Dunn’s Office Supply & Machines first opened in 1978, its product line consisted of cash registers and typewriters. Forty years later, Dunn’s Business Solutions now sells copier/MFPs, office furniture and supplies, and workflow solutions.

When Dunn’s president, Theresa McNamara, who has led the company for the last 28 years, decided it was time to start planning for retirement, she turned to Visual Edge Technology.

“Their model is exactly what I was looking for—a company that would continue to take care of my employees and my customers, and maybe even do better than I could. I want to see my legacy continue,” said McNamara.

For Dunn’s, it will be business as usual after the acquisition. “The same faces, the same products, the same great service,” added McNamara.

The only real change is that, as McNamara transitions out of the business, Dunn’s will carry on under the leadership of Danny Brady, president of Brady’s Business Systems, another Visual Edge Technology-owned company.

Both Dunn’s and Brady’s are based in Michigan, and McNamara and Brady have been friends in the business for some time. Like Dunn’s, Brady’s is also an authorized Kyocera reseller, but it will bring the added bonus of expertise in managed print services, document management, and managed IT solutions to Dunn’s customer base.

Brady’s Business Systems has been serving Central Michigan businesses since 2000 and was acquired by Visual Edge Technology in January.
