Canon Concludes Lawsuits Against Do It Wiser, World Class Ink Supply

Canon Inc. of Tokyo, Japan, today reported that it’s concluded a patent-infringement lawsuit against Do It Wiser LLC in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, concerning certain toner cartridges sold for use in Canon and HP laser printers.

To resolve the lawsuit, Do It Wiser stipulated to a consent judgment and permanent injunction from the District of Delaware, which prohibits Do It Wiser from making, using, selling, and offering for sale in the United States, and from importing into the United States, the toner cartridges that Canon accused of infringing upon its U.S. Patent Nos. 9,746,826, 9,836,021, 9,841,727, 9,841,728, 9,857,765, 9,869,960 and 9,874,846.

Back on February 28th, Canon Inc., Canon U.S.A., and Canon Virginia submitted a patent-infringement complaint to the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and requested that the ITC issue a general exclusion order and cease-and-desist orders against some 50 companies, including Do It Wiser, alleging that companies are importing into United States OEM-alternative toner cartridges and drums that violate various U.S. Canon patents.
