Boston Man Convicted of Defrauding Xerox of $6 Million
Spectrum News of Rochester, New York, reported today that Jonathan Ofstein of Massachusetts will have to pay more than $6 million in restitution to Xerox after being convicted of wire fraud in federal court.
Prosecutors stated that Ofstein worked for a company in Massachusetts, Vestcom Corporation, that had an all-inclusive lease contract with Xerox for office equipment and office supplies.
Between 2012 and 2016, investigators say Ofstein ordered excess supplies without telling his employer, and then sold them to a person in Miami, Florida.
The supplies are said to have a retail value of more than $6 million dollars.
U.S. District Court Judge Charles J. Siragusa also sentenced Ofstein to five years of probation.
