Our Take

This wasn’t the typical copier/MFP dealer conference, as the forum served not only to preview and introduce new products, but also provided key updates on Foxconn’s investment in Sharp. It was also well-attended: according to numbers from Sharp, there were some 605 dealer participants, an increase of 5.2 percent, with 166 dealerships represented.

Overall, we found the conference presented an intriguing blueprint of what we can expect from Sharp business solutions in the near future, as well as down the road, including voice, monitors, robotics, and 8K imaging, all of which will bring Sharp business solutions into the vanguard of IT. While there was plenty of new document-imaging hardware present, it’s now being gradually integrated into Sharp’s vision as part – but an important part – of an information-sharing network for business. it As SIICA Chief Operating Officer Mike Marusic put it:  “We’re in the information sharing business…. The reality is you want to be part of IT. Foxconn brings us into areas where we never were before.”
