This week’s big news comes from HP Inc., which reported significantly better financial news. And, while we’re accustomed to seeing the words “Toshiba” and “financial problems” together, Toshiba Tec was a bit of a bright spot with its roll-out of a unique update on its eco-friendly, paper-saving MFP with erasable toner.

Aside from Toshiba Tec’s MFP and an intriguing EFI industrial solution for printing on wood, this week’s hardware and software news wasn’t about putting marks on paper, but reflected the increasing key role of scanning, processing, and distributing documents, with new scanner introductions from Fujitsu and Contex, and next-gen document-processing software from ABBYY.
