Sharp Expands Direct-Sales Operation in California with AVC Acquisition

Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America (SIICA) reports that it’s expanding its direct regional-sales operation in Southern California by acquiring the service contracts of AVC Corporation in Simi Valley, California, for an undisclosed sum. Sharp says the acquisition adds an additional location and employees to Sharp’s existing Sharp Business Systems of Southern California branch, which is headquartered near San Diego.

AVC Corporation has served the Southern California market for more than 20 years with office-equipment solutions. Many of AVC Corporation’s employees have been asked to join the Sharp team and will provide service to new and existing customers throughout Southern California.

Moving forward, SEC’s new customers will have direct access to Sharp’s office products and solutions, including copier/MFPs, display products, and applications for streamlining office workflow.

SIICA has established 14 local Sharp Business Systems branches since the first branch opening in Arizona in 2006. Since then, the direct-sales division has expanded into 41 locations through growth initiatives within the organization. “Sharp Business Systems has helped Sharp grow and strengthen Sharp’s distribution in key markets nationwide,” said Doug Albregts, president, CEO and chairman of Sharp Electronics Corporation. “Our direct branch strategy augments our strong independent dealer channel by enabling Sharp to better understand customer needs and then translating that into outstanding products and support.”
