Samsung Blog: Wireless Mobile Printing Spurring Growth of Printer-Parts Market

From Samsung Printing Solutions’ blog: “The printer parts market will be worth U.S. $33 billion by 2020 according to a recent report from market analysts Technavio. In addition to a steady rate of growth, this figure represents a large and expanding market.

A range of factors is currently at play in the market. However, one of the most important of these issues – and one that is contributing significantly to the aforementioned growth – is the ever-increasing importance of wireless printing.

Spurred on by Wireless

So why is wireless printing so pivotal when it comes to the printing supplies market? It seems that the principal reason is the fact that wireless printing now leads the way in terms of office organization and workflow development.

“The increasing demand for PCs and laptops in the office has a direct impact on the demand for printers,” write the report’s authors. “The introduction of cloud-based wireless printers allows the sharing of printers on a network, as well as integration with cloud systems, leading to its augmented adoption in the coming years.”

For offices that use Samsung multi-function printers (MFPs) and other devices, this is good news. Samsung’s line of printing and document management solutions is optimized for cloud usage and mobile work. And with the Android-based Smart UX Center, it is easy for any office to set up for cloud-based or mobile printing, doing away with outdated server connections that once bottlenecked office printers.

The report also notes that the printing supply market is dominated by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), which comprise 82 percent of printer supply sales, versus just 18 percent for aftermarket manufacturers.

The report concludes that major factors behind the success of OEMs are reliability, durability and quality, which the study asserted would “lead to augmented adoption by the end of 2020.”

Verticals Provide Printing Boost

Verticals are also driving a significant amount of growth in the printer market. These entail sectors such as the education and corporate spheres. This is another piece of good news for Samsung Printing Solutions customers, as Samsung offers a wide range of products and options tailor-made for the needs of each vertical.

For example, in the education sector, students typically work on laptops, mobile devices and public computers. They frequently have to move between departments in the course of the academic day. In spite of their mobility needs, they still need to print out papers and reports. For this reason, schools require printers flexible enough to handle print requests from a wide range of student and staff devices.

Meanwhile, in the world of finance, business is increasingly being conducted out of the office. Financiers often need to travel to clients’ offices across the city or even in other countries. For accountants who need to print out key documents while visiting affiliates, or consultants who have to update presentations while at proposal meetings, mobile printing is no longer a useful luxury – it is an industry must-have.

In verticals like these and others, users increasingly find themselves moving around more, but still requiring robust and efficient print networks.

Always Pushing to Be Innovative

The Technavio report finds the printer market to be highly competitive, and forecasts that competition will continue to diversify, meaning vendors will be required to compete in spheres that include technology, price, distribution channels and global presence.

All four of those criteria are areas that Samsung Printing Solutions considers very important, as it continues to demonstrate long-term commitment to the printing and document management industry.

And as mobile needs are now major motivating forces in the printing business, Samsung plans to continue to offer supplies and services that perform at a high level – and help lower your business’ total cost of ownership.”
