Canon Files Patent-Infringement Complaint Against J&H Greentech & Trading in Italy

Judge with Gavel

On August 31st, Canon Inc. of Tokyo, Japan, reported that it had filed a request for a preliminary injunction and seizure of toner cartridges said to infringe upon Canon patents. The company filed the complaint against J&H Greentech & Trading Ltd., which also goes under the name of “Prestige Cartridge,” at the Court of Rome in Italy.

Both legal actions are based on Canon’s claimed infringement of the Italian portion of Canon’s European patent 2 087 407 by, inter alia, the offer and sale of certain toner cartridges for use in various models of Canon and Hewlett-Packard laser printers. Canon is, inter alia, seeking injunctive relief and damages.

Interestingly enough, we recently tested Prestige Cartridge replacement toner cartridges for the HP Color LaserJet Pro M252 printer. Click here to view the test results.

  1. I’m absoulety gutted, my few month Canon printer is complety ruined from putting a Green Tech crtridge. Yeah great offer 2 black 1 coloured for £19.99p. It has now cost me my printer. I live alone on benefits saved for my printer and was still trying to keep within my budget. No printer/scanner ink, 0 to show for my savings. They havent even got the decency to reply to my e-mails.

That is terrible. Indeed, the use of third-party supplies is a roll of the dice.

Have you tried using all of the cleaning options found on the Maintenance tab in the print driver? Have you tried Canon ink cartridges?

If you get things going once again, the best way to save money is to use Canon ink cartridges and print in draft and/or grayscale modes whenever possible in order to save ink.
