Canon and EFI Expand Relationship with Integration of Production-Printing Workflow Suites
Canon U.S.A. reports that it’s expanded its relationship with Electronics for Imaging (EFI) to offer streamlined production-printing workflow solutions that enable users to take better advantage of capabilities of Canon’s sheet-fed, toner-based digital presses, with the goal of offering customers “time saving, end-to-end workflow solutions that help automate processes from order submission to print and fulfillment.”
The latest initiative between Canon and EFI has resulted in bringing together the PRISMAdirect order- and workflow-management solution, EFI’s Midmarket Productivity Suite, including the suite’s Digital StoreFront Web-to-print component, and Pace, its core MIS software. Canon says this offering provides an integrated solution for print providers to become more efficient and profitable. It says this combination of solutions leverages the industry standard JDF/JMF to integrate communication throughout the workflow. Canon demonstrated the solution at this week’s EFI Connect event via a Canon imagePRESSC10000VP digital color production press and Canon imagePRESS Server B5000.
To support workflows that don’t require an extensive order-management solution, Canon is also announcing the availability of EFI Fiery Central Solo and its compatibility with Canon’s varioPRINT 135 Series and Océ VarioPrint 6000+ Series monochrome digital presses. EFI Fiery Central Solo is an output-management system designed to connect up to three printers to Fiery Central/Command WorkStation as a centralized-workflow integration hub. This allows for incoming orders from Digital StoreFront or Pace to be directly routed with job information to Fiery-driven digital presses and Canon varioPRINT and Océ VarioPrint 6000+ monochrome digital presses.
PRISMAdirect is commercially available, and integration with EFI Digital StoreFront is available through Canon Solutions America and authorized Canon dealers via Canon’s professional-services organization. EFI Fiery Central Solo software, including support for Canon varioPRINT 135 Series and Océ VarioPrint 6000+ Series, will be available from Canon U.S.A. beginning in February.
