Canon Updates imageRUNNER ADVANCE Desktop Workflow Software with Improved UI, PDF Tools

Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE desktopCanon U.S.A. is releasing the next generation of its imageRUNNER ADVANCE Desktop workflow software, Version 4.0, that it says enables users to better manage documents and interact with their imageRUNNER ADVANCE systems. With V4.0, Canon says documents and files can be more easily managed and shared, combined from multiple different file formats to create new documents, as well as edited, annotated, converted to PDF, previewed and printed with enhanced publishing settings, or sent as fax or email attachments. from a personal computer.

About imageRUNNER ADVANCE Desktop

imageRUNNER ADVANCE Desktop software provides three main functions: document management, device collaboration, and device monitoring. Users can store documents in a library, access files on the Advance Box, share fax address books with other iR ADVANCE Desktop users, and see at a glance which devices in their fleet are operational. Document Binder enables users to combine documents from multiple file formats, preview and set print settings, and make edits with the Object Layout Editor.

Canon says the new user interface provided by Version 4.0 consolidates editing functions and provides the ability to create customized workflow tabs. imageRUNNER ADVANCE Desktop V4.0 also continues to provide Canon’s Quick Printing Tool that’s been upgraded to include Optical Character Recognition (OCR) for converting documents into “editable” text documents, and the ability to create searchable PDFs via “drag and drop” operation.

Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE Desktop Browser

The imageRUNNER ADVANCE Desktop Browser has been updated for a more modern look, and features a ribbon-and-tool bar that can be customized to the user’s needs, for instance, configured so that only most commonly used tools are available.

Customized tabs may also be created with groups of functions that provide a customized workflow the user can follow when managing, printing, or editing documents. Documents and files can be managed in personal libraries, network libraries, or Microsoft SharePoint libraries.

Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE Desktop Editor

imageRUNNER ADVANCE Desktop Editor has combined four editors of previous Desktop versions into one editor application. With the same upgrade to a customizable ribbon-and-tool bar, Desktop Editor provides tools for the user to more easily edit, annotate, add digital stamps and signatures, redact information, and more in one interface.

As with the Browser, Editor allows the user to create customized tabs and workflows to make document creation and publishing easier than before. With the Desktop Editor, users can rearrange or delete document pages, combine files from multiple formats to create new documents, build chapters and table of contents, and adjust print settings to provide professional printing results. imageRUNNER ADVANCE Desktop Editor can also handle pages as large as A0 for use with Canon large-format printers.

Optimized PDF Management

This upgraded software solution also includes several new features for enhanced PDF management, including a tool to convert documents to PDF before attaching them to an email message. The Quick Printing Tool (QPT), a desktop widget, provides drag-and-drop operation to directly print files, access and change print settings, fax files, convert files to PDF, configure settings for Optical Character Recognition, and set passwords for opening, editing, and printing restrictions.

imageRUNNER ADVANCE Desktop V4.0 is available from authorized Canon dealers. Both new and current customers can download a 60-day fully functional free trial version of imageRUNNER ADVANCE Desktop from Canon’s imageWARE Web site here. Current imageRUNNER ADVANCE Desktop customers who have valid maintenance in effect will be eligible for an upgrade to the latest version at no cost.
