Canon imageFORMULA P-208II Scan-tiniMarch 17, 2015 – For those looking to bring document scanning on the road, Canon U.S.A. is introducing its new imageFORMULA P-208II Scan-tini personal, portable document scanner ($199.00 MSRP).

Positioned as ideal for both stationary users and “road warriors” in professional services, financial services, healthcare, and other areas, the P-208II provides general-purpose scanning of receipts, business cards, photographs, bills, contracts, reports, letters, and plastic cards, and is compatible with Windows and Mac. It can scan documents 2.0″-8.5″ wide and 2.8″ and 14″ long, weighing 2.2 lbs. and measuring 1.6″ x 11.2″ x 3.7″ with trays closed.

The P-208II includes a single USB cable for connection to a PC. Upon connecting to a PC, the P-208II allows users to “plug-and-scan,” without having to install scan drivers or applications. With a single click, users can automatically adjust multiple settings for best image quality. The bundled Canon CaptureOnTouch software enables users to configure routine scanning jobs for one-touch access. The scanner can also send scanned images directly to third-party cloud storage sites such as Evernote, Microsoft SharePoint, Google Drive, SugarSync, OneDrive, and Dropbox, and is also bundled with ISIS and TWAIN  scan drivers for integration with third-party document-capture and content-management systems.

Other Features

The P-208II features simplex and duplex scanning of color and black-and-white documents, and can also scan thick and thin documents, and plastic and embossed cards. Optional wireless capability is also available. When combined with the optional WU10 Wireless Adapter and Battery Pack, it works wirelessly in Windows and Mac environments, and also with iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, and Android mobile devices using the free downloadable Canon CaptureOnTouch Mobile app.

Text enhancement helps improve the legibility of hard-to-scan documents. When scanning mixed batches of documents and photographs, the scanner can automatically adjust the resolution to help improve image quality and reduce file size. Other features include the ability to optimize images of scanned photographs, and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to convert paper-based documents into a searchable text document.

The P-208II meets Energy Star energy-efficiency criteria and also complies with both EU RoHS and WEEE directives for the reduction of hazardous substances and waste products. For more information and complete specifications, visit Canon here.
