This Week in Imaging: HP Battles Patent Infringers; Upcoming Conferences & Expos; Smallest AiO; More
In a slow news week, there’s at least one odd piece that makes you go “hmm” – Sharp sells its U.S. headquarters. but will lease it and stay put.
We’re used to posting virtually every week news of Canon Inc. waging war against alleged toner-cartridge patent infringers across the globe, but this week HP made a big announcement. The firm reported that it’s filed ink-cartridge patent-infringement lawsuits against companies in Europe, the United States, and China.
We needn’t have to remind you that Konica Minolta is serious about production printing around the world. In October, the company acquired Italian inkjet textile printer-sales company, Verga, but this week announced plans to strengthen its production-printing foothold in Brazil with another acquisition.
Hot off the heels of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) comes yet another inkjet and 3D-Printing showcase, the Ink Jet Printing World Conference, which will be held February 3-6 in Orlando, Florida. We can picture the technicians, riggers, and haulers breaking down equipment and booths at CES in Las Vegas and shipping them to Orlando where they’ll rinse and repeat.
Primera Technology claims that its new Trio All-in-One, previewed at CES, is the smallest under-$399 portable printer available in the United States. Unfortunately, unlike many of the products at this year’s CES, alas, it’s not wearable.
