Konica Minolta Adds Lantronix xPrintServer Cloud Print Edition to its Mobile-Printing Suite
January 5, 2015 – Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A. has revealed that it’s entered into a partnership with Lantronix under which it’ll add the Lantronix xPrintServer Cloud Print Edition to its EnvisionIT portfolio. The xPrintServer Cloud Print Edition solution enables mobile workers to wirelessly print from Android and Google Cloud Print-ready devices to any Konica Minolta bizhub MFP.
Lantronix explains that its xPrintServer Cloud Print Edition print server makes USB and network printers and MFPs Google Cloud Print-ready. It enables wireless printing of photos, email, Web pages and documents from Google Cloud Print-enabled Android phones and tablets, Kindle Fire Chrome OS devices, such as Chromebook computers, as well as Google’s Chrome browser on PCs. As such, it eliminates the need to use apps, or emailing yourself items to then print.
Lantronix xPrintServer Cloud Print Edition also provides automatic discovery and set up of printers and MFPs, sharing of USB-connected printers over the network, and configuration of administrative and security settings via a Web interface.
“With businesses embracing Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies, it’s imperative that users have access to mobile printing directly from the devices they use the most,” commented Kevin Kern, senior vice president of marketing for Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A. “Our customers can count on Konica Minolta to provide them with a range of mobile solutions, such as the xPrintServer, designed to support the needs of today’s mobile users without sacrificing data security, ensuring that confidential information is protected.”
The Lantronix xPrintServer Cloud Print Edition is a “plug-and-print” solution enabling users to print – without installing special software or applications – directly to a networked Konica Minolta bizhub MFP or printer from Chromebooks and Android smartphones, tablets, and Kindle Fire devices. It also incorporates Konica Minolta’s print drivers, or PDD, for sophisticated function support, including user authentication and Secure Print. The Cloud Print Edition, with the embedded Konica Minolta print driver, has been certified by Google to support cloud-print technology.
The new xPrintServer solution complements Konica Minolta’s existing mobile offerings, allowing customers to view, scan, and print documents securely from their mobile devices. Konica Minolta’s other mobile solutions include its PageScope Mobile to help users access and manage documents across mobile devices, and support for AirPrint, Google Cloud Print and the Mopria Alliance for easier mobile printing.
