Ricoh Reports Robust Income, Steady Sales Gains for First Half of its Fiscal Year
For the first half of its fiscal year (April 1 to September 30, 2014), Ricoh Company of Japan reported net sales of 1,072 billion yen, up 3.2 percent versus the same period last year, and net profit of 33.9 billion, up 21.0 percent versus the same period last year. The firm reported it enjoyed “greatly expanded” office MFP sales in the second quarter, and that sales of production-printing systems, IT services, and industrial products saw “steady growth” in Ricoh’s first half-year.
For its third quarter ending September 30th, 2014, sales were up 4.2 percent, while net profit was up 15.4 percent, both compared to the third quarter last year.
Half-Year Results for Printing and Imaging
For its Imaging and Solutions Group, sales amounted to 955 billion yen, up from the 924.0 billion yen reported for the same period a year ago. Within the Imaging and Solutions Group, sales for the Network Systems Solutions unit were up 8.2 percent, sales were up 7.2 percent in the Production Printing unit, and sales were up 2.0 percent the Office Imaging Group. Sales of color office MFPs were up 7 percent; sales of monochrome office MFPs were down 19 percent; and sales of both monochrome and color office printers were each down 2 percent. Sales of color production printers were up 22 percent, while sales of monochrome production printers were up 2 percent.
Overall, the firm said it’s on track to deliver its March 2014 forecast, and increased its dividend to 17.0 yen per share for the first half of the year.
