Xerox Impika Color Inkjet iPrint eVolution Digital-Color Press Makes North American Debut
Making its North American debut at Graph Expo, Xerox says its new Xerox Impika iPrint eVolution is notable for its flexibility and scalability, providing print-service providers another way to capitalize on inkjet printing’s business-growth potential.
Flexible enough to handle both plain papers and high-quality, inkjet-treated stocks, the eVolution’s drop-on-demand piezoelectric production inkjet system runs at speeds of up to 832-feet-per-minute/3,628 pages-per-minute. It offers roll-fed, continuous-paper-feed capabilities with a 20ʺ web width.
According to Xerox, patented variable print-speed technology – made possible by a frame architecture suited for two to four print heads – maintains maximum image quality when increasing or decreasing rates. This scalability doubles the productivity on a single platform.
For added productivity and automation, FreeFlow Digital Workflow Collection PDF file can be integrated into Impika systems and supports all major data streams including PDF, PS. and IPDS in one platform. Print-service providers can expand their application offerings in the transaction/trans-marketing and direct-mail markets.
Other eVolution features include:
- Adjustable printing quality can be adjusted to meet the specific requirements of each application with three print resolutions: 600 x 360, 600 x 600 and 600 x 1,200 dpi. Exceptional print quality is achieved by varying the size of ink droplet (variable ink-droplet size technology).
- Modular and scalable configuration protect commercial printers’ investments with the ability to upgrade technology, color (up to six), and drop volume (up to five) configurations on site.
- Media and ink flexibility allows longer “open time” using next-generation, high-density pigment inks on low-cost, inkjet-treated matte or silk papers, minimizing waste clean and purge cycles.
- Three controller options are available: Impika iController supports IPDS workflows for high-speed, variable-data print jobs that can be updated following configuration adjustments; Impika iFlow, a PC-based RIP and spool solution, promotes PDF and PostScript workflows; and Xerox FreeFlow Print Server, now available for the Xerox Impika eVolution TED 24 configuration.
Xerox will be demonstrating the eVolution at the Graph Expo trade show being held September 28 – October 1 in Chicago, Illinois. Its booth will also feature XMPie’s 1:1 multichannel marketing campaign-management software, specialty media from Domtar Paper Company, and integrated hybrid document-finishing solutions from C.P. Bourg.
