New Canon imageFORMULA DR-M1060 Office Scanner for Scanning Ledger-Size Originals
Last week, Canon U.S.A. rolled out a new document scanner that can scan up to ledger-size (11″x17″) originals, the imageFORMULA DR-M1060 ($2,995.00 MSRP), which is designed in particular for professional and technical services, legal services, financial services, healthcare, and construction.
Canon rates the new scanner at up 60 pages-per-minute and 120 images-per-minute in color, black-and-white, and grayscale (letter-size documents, portrait-feeding direction, at up to 200 dpi scan resolution). The imageFORMULA DR-M1060 scanner can process up to 7,500 documents per day. Canon says the scanner’s minimalistic design removes the need for long paper-feed and paper-eject trays, which helps minimize its footprint. It also provides “U-turn” paper-path feeding, as well as straight-path feeding, the latter of which allows it to better handle thick, thin, or long documents, including plastic cards and ledger-size sheets.
The firm says the imageFORMULA DR-M1060 is appropriate for applications in accounting and banking, as, for instance, accountants and banking associates can scan large tables or spreadsheets for long-term archiving. In healthcare applications, physician office staff can scan patient medical records, charts, or insurance cards to assist in HIPAA compliance; while construction contractors can scan drawings, diagrams, and technical documents.
Canon says minimal setup is required, and there’s an intuitive control panel that provides a selection of different scan tasks, and batch-scanning capability, so that users can quickly complete jobs with little intervention or oversight. The DR-M1060 scanner also includes pickup feeding, and, in order to quickly identify paper-feeding troubles and help minimize critical damage to documents, the scanner comes equipped with paper-feed error-detection sensors.
The imageFORMULA DR-M1060 scanner arrives bundled with Canon CaptureOnTouch, Canon CapturePerfect, Kofak VRS, and Nuance eCopy PDF Pro Office software. When used in tandem with the scanner, these programs allow users to convert documents into editable electronic files, further enhance scanned images, distribute and share scanned files, and create PDFs.
