Xerox Targets SMB Segment with New MPS (and Free Printer) Plan; New ConnectKey Multifunctionals for SMB; More
Targeting small and mid-size businesses (SMBs) – up to 78 percent of which don’t have a managed print services (MPS) program – Xerox has launched new programs designed to help its channel partners reap more recurring revenue, while enabling SMBs to benefit to from the much-easier MFP maintenance enjoyed by larger enterprises with MPS programs. Along with this, the firm also introduced four new ConnectKey-enabled MFPs, and new tools for creating custom solutions for applications such as print and scan from the cloud-based document storage, such as Microsoft Office 365.
Free Color Printer with New Xerox Small Office Plan
First among these is Xerox’s new Xerox Small Office Savings Plan, billed as an innovative way for service providers to differentiate themselves and grow their base of customers. Under the plan, channel partners offer their customers a free new Xerox color printer; and in turn, customers agree to pay a predictable monthly amount used exclusively for supplies, with the monthly fee based on their expected print volumes..
Printers available through the program include the Xerox Phaser 6500, 6600, and 7100, or the Xerox ColorQube 8570. Free on-site service and support are included with each device, a value up to $300 a year, according to Xerox.
Customers place their supplies order online; Xerox ships supplies directly to the customers office against the user’s account credit. There are 12- or 24-month plans available, and plans can be changed or discontinued without a penalty.
The Xerox Small Office Savings Plan is available September 15th with the following monthly pricing schedules: Phaser 6500 at $59; Phaser 6600 at $99; Xerox ColorQube 8570 at $109; and Phaser 7100 at $149.
Channel partners can also use Xerox’s PageConnect Services, which provides remote management of network printers and MFPs, as well as proactive alerts that indicate toner and ink replenishment or service is required, for Xerox and non-Xerox brands. Also provided is historical and predictive data. An online QuickQuote tool calculates current print costs and can help forecast future costs, while the Xerox Business Intelligence Portal provides performance and service metrics, allowing service providers to recommend cost-saving adjustments. Also provided are sales tools, marketing materials, and pricing models, as well as a dedicated PageConnect support staff and a training program.
Xerox Strengthens ConnectKey Platform; New ‘Cloud-Ready’ MFPs
Xerox also introduced new features, apps, and hardware for its ConnectKey 1.5 software and technology. The latest enhancements include four new MFPs based on Xerox’s ConnectKey platform, including two A4 MFPs, and new software apps:
- The WorkCentre 6655 is a color A4 MFP with a 60-sheet duplex automatic document feeder, maximum capacity of 1,250 sheets, and print speed rated at up to 36 ppm in black and color.
- The WorkCentre 3655 is a monochrome A4 MFP rated at up to 47 ppm with a maximum capacity of 2,350 sheets, and touch screen.
- The WorkCentre 7970 is a color A3 MFP with optional C-folding and Z-folding document finishing; it’s rated at up to 70 ppm in black and color, and features custom app creation.
- The WorkCentre 5945/5955 is a monochrome A3 MFP with a new clean-sheet design and uses LED printing technology and XeroxEmulsion Aggregation toner; print speed is rated at 45 and 55 ppm, respectively.
Expanded Software Solutions
Xerox’s says its newest version of its open-development platfrom, Extensible Interface Platform, version 3.0 enhances the capabilities of these ConnectKey MFPs with tools such as WebKit browser support, making it easier for Xerox partners to develop the control-panel user interface for their apps on their customers’ MFPs.
And, with the launch of the Xerox App Studio 2.0, new ConnectKey apps give users direct access to emerging hosted cloud solutions such as Microsoft Office 365, and Dropbox, enabling users to scan to and print from these document-storage and sharing repositories. There’s also an app that enables customers to print from their own URL, whether behind a firewall or in the cloud, creating a “print-on-demand” environment. Xerox resellers can now also contract PAB Authorized Developers such as Foxway to fulfill the design and development of more sophisticated custom apps.
Also new is that Xerox latest version of its Secure Access (Version 5.0) print-management solution is now a modular, software-only solution, allowing customers to use user-authentication features at a lower cost, with compatibility with industry-standard card readers. Xerox says its Xerox Mobile Print Solution 3.0‘s new features provide more convenience, increased security, and greater flexibility in print-job submission. These new print-job submission features include the ability to choose media sizes and select page ranges for printing.
The new ConnectKey-enabled MFPs, Xerox App Studio 2.0, ConnectKey apps, and Xerox Mobile Print Solution 3.0 are available for ordering immediately in most regions. Xerox Secure Access Version 5.0 will be available in most regions in October.
