OKI Printer and MFP Business Enjoys ‘Drastic Improvement’ in Latest Quarter
OKI Electric of Tokyo reported results for its latest fiscal quarter, with sales up 8.7 percent, net income flat, but operating income up by 3.2 billion yen, all compared to the same quarter a year ago.
Net sales for OKI’s printer and MFP business were 31.2 billion yen, an increase from the 28.0 billion yen reported for the same quarter a year ago, and operating income for this business was 2.3 billion yen, a sharp improvement versus the 1.9 billion yen loss reported for the quarter a year ago – operating income improved by 4.2 billion for the printer and MFP business, a “drastic improvement,” according to OKI.
Within its printer and MFP business, OKI reported that sales of high-end models were favorable, and that it acquired “big orders” for its dot-matrix printers in the United States and Europe.
Net sales for OKI’s other businesses, Info-Telecom and EMS, also enjoyed increased sales versus the same quarter a year ago, but both of these groups experienced a net loss: 0.5 billion yen for Info-Telecom and 0.2 billion yen for EMS.
