Printronic Agrees Not to Sell Alleged Patent-Infringing Laser-Printer Supplies in the U.S.
Canon Inc. of Tokyo reports that it’s successfully concluded a patent infringement lawsuit against Printronic Corporation, which does business under the names Printronic.com and InkSmile.com, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. In its lawsuit, Canon alleged that certain toner cartridges and photosensitive drum units sold by Printronic for use in Canon and Hewlett-Packard laser printers violated Canon’s patents.
To resolve the lawsuit, Printronic has stipulated to a consent judgment and permanent injunction from the Southern District of New York, which prohibits Printronic from making, using, selling, and offering for sale in the United States, and from importing into the United States the toner cartridges and photosensitive drum units that Canon accused of infringing upon its U.S. Patent Nos. 8,135,304, 8,280,278, 8,369,744, 8,433,219, 8,437,669, 8,494,411, 8,565,640, 8,630,564, 8,676,085, 8,676,090, 8,682,215, and 8,688,008.
