Strong Year for OKI; Sales of Copier/Multifunctionals Up
OKI Electric Industry Company of Japan reported financial results for its fiscal year ended March 31, 2014, with sales of 483.1 billion, up 6 percent versus the previous fiscal year, and net income of 27.4 billion yen, a 101.2-percent increase versus the previous fiscal year.
OKI reported that sales of its LED-based color and monochrome printers and MFPs improved, as sales shifted to higher-value units, with sales of units for the copier/printer market favorable. Net sales for the MFPs/copiers and printers for the year were 124.8 billion yen, an improvement from the 111.4 billion yen reported for the previous fiscal year.Sales of color LED units increased their percentage of sales, from 64.3 percent in the previous year, up to 78.1 percent. Sales of dot-matrix printers decreased as overall global demand for dot-matrix printers decreased.
OKI’s Info-Telecomm and EMS businesses always saw sales increases.
For its current fiscal year, OKI is targeting total sales of 525.0 billion yen, and a lower net income of 17.5 billion yen, the latter of which it expects to reflect lower gains from favorable yen currency-exchange rates.
