Stellar Fiscal Year for Konica Minolta and bizhub MFPs
For its fiscal year ended March 31, 2014, Konica Minolta of Japan reported net sales of ¥943.8 billion, a 16 percent year-over year increase, and net income of ¥21.9 billion, a 45-percent year-over-year increase.
The firm says its Business Technologies Business drove performance for the entire company, and that a significant improvement in profitability in the Business Technologies Business covered a decline in profit in the Industrial Business.
Net sales for the Business Technology business were ¥729.8 billion, a 25-percent year-over-year increase. Additionally:
- Sales of A3 color MFPs were strong throughout the year, mainly among mid- and high-speed models.
- Sales of new monochrome MFPs rose favorably from the second half of the year and the company secured sales volumes on par with the previous year.
- In its production-printing business, sales of both color and monochrome systems exceeded the previous year.
- Non-hardware sales expanded favorably in new domains such as IT service and solutions.
Konica Minolta has not released its forecast for the current fiscal year and quarter.
