Brother Launches BR-Docs Platform for Cloud-Based Document Storage and Sharing
Brother International today launched BR-Docs, a subscription- and cloud-based document-management service for sending, storing, and sharing digital files in a secure Web-based account. Designed in particular for small to mid-size businesses, Brother says the solution provides businesses with a simple, secure, and reliable way to organize, store, sync and access digital files from a desktop or select mobile devices.
Brother says BR-Docs provides an intuitive user interface, so that, for instance, users can simply drag-and-drop files from their computer into their BR-Docs workspace, as well as view content from Apple iOS and Android mobile devices over a wireless network.
BR-Docs allow users to:
- Manage all files in one secure location.
- Control and create groups, provide access, and conduct key-word searches to find files.
- Assign tasks to automate workflow management
- Collaborate with colleagues by creating specific work spaces to invite users, add documents, assign and manage content. Users can also initiate discussions across the entire organization.
- Digitize documents by scanning them, saving them as searchable files, and then providing access to them to clients who are not BR-Docs users.
BR-Docs is optimized to work with Brother hardware. By using Brother’s scan-to-cloud solution called Web Connect available on select Brother Multi-Function Center MFPs and scanners, end-users can scan paper documents to their BR-Docs accounts without having to use a PC. Users can also print files stored in their BR-Docs accounts with Brother Multi-Function Center MFPs. Web Connect will be available to BR-Docs users in the second quarter of 2014.
A free, 30 day BR-Docs trial is available at Brother Online here.
BR-Docs is available for personal users at a subscription rate of $5 per month per user, for up to three users. It’s also available for premier users at a subscription rate of $8 per month per user for premier accounts, for up to 10 users. Online storage capability for both personal and group users is 25 GB of memory. Brother is preparing a professional version that will be available later in 2014.
With the release of BR-Docs, a sync tool, plug-in for Microsoft Office and a mobile application for Apple iOS and Android are also available for download. The mobile application allows users to access the software and their documents virtually wherever they are over a wireless network. For more information about BR-Docs, visit Brother here.
