Hewlett-Packard reports that on December 4th, the New York City Police Department executed an enforcement action in New York City, seizing approximately $400,000 of stolen HP supplies for HP’s line of Indigo inkjet-based digital presses, with supplies destined for sale on the black market. The company says other enforcement actions will be pursued against the alleged dealer, as well as against those who provided the stolen supplies as determined by the seized goods and other findings.

The firm says it’s fully committed to its Indigo customers, channels and partners and will continue to “vigorously defend its brand and intellectual property (IP) against theft as well as the actions of illegal dealers.” It also says it’s actively combating black-market sales of its products and pursuing companies found to be in violation of the law, as well as implementing a comprehensive brand-protection strategy for HP Indigo supplies, including an end-to-end track-and-trace solution, improvements in the security of its supply chain, fraud prevention built into software and hardware, as well as investigation-led enforcement actions.
