HP Acquires Hiflex to Enhance Cloud-Printing Strategy

In a move designed to expand its cloud-printing strategy, Hewlett-Packard has acquired Hiflex Software GmbH for an undisclosed sum. Hiflex is a privately held German software company that specializes in Web-to-print and management information solutions for printing.

Hiflex’s products include MIS, Print Support, and Webshop, the last of which enables customers to submit print jobs via the Internet to commercial print providers, and is based on Drupal, an open-source content management system.

Founded in 1991, Hiflex is headquartered in Aachen, Germany. HP said it will use Hiflex’s technologies to extend its cloud-based technologies and solutions. Noted Vyomesh Joshi, who is executive vice president of HP’s Imaging and Printing Group, “HP wants to break the traditional barriers of how and where business customers print, making it easy for them to produce custom or personalized materials anywhere, anytime. Hiflex’s technology provides a powerful platform to deliver on this goal as part of our overall cloud printing strategy.”
