EFI Working with Canon on Mobile Print Solution for imageRunner Advance MFP Series

PrintMe connect

Electronics for Imaging (EFI) today reported that it’s working with Canon U.S.A. to bring mobile printing to Canon’s enterprise customers. As a first step, Canon’s imageRunner Advance color and monochrome black MFPs that are equipped with EFI Fiery-based imagePass and ColorPass controllers will support EFI’s direct mobile printing solution, PrintMe Connect.

EFI’s direct mobile printing will enable users to wirelessly print from their Apple iOS 4.2-enabled iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch mobile devices with AirPrint to Canon printers. Corporate IT installs PrintMe Connect on the enterprise’s wireless network. Once it’s installed, Fiery-equipped printers published by the administrator on different subnets within the enterprise network are displayed to the the Apple iOS 4.2 device user, who can then print to them without installing print drivers. Users can print from any application on their Apple mobile device.

Unlike EFI’s PrintMe and PrintMe Server, PrintMe Connect is a server-based, not cloud-based mobile print solution. Fiery System 8e and above controllers are required, as is a client PC with Microsoft Windows XP Pro (32-bit), Windows 7, Professional and Ultimate (32 and 64-bit), or Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or 2008 R2.
