Ricoh Japan Copier Factory Nearly Back to Full Production
The New York Times has just published a story that looks at conditions at the Tohoku Ricoh copier factory in Japan affected by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. Despite an upended assembly line, toppled water tank, and homes flooded or destroyed, Ricoh employees at the factory appear undaunted by these challenges. The Times explains that the Tohoku Ricoh factory is Ricoh’s only factory that makes a certain motor used in its digital copiers/MFPs. Although the factory is nearly back to full production, one challenge it and other factories in Japan face is that rolling power outages are expected throughout the summer. Read the Times story here.
