Xerox’s Global Imaging Acquires United Business Solutions; New Xerox Matte-Dry Ink

Xerox’s Global Imaging Company has acquired United Business Solutions of Addison, IL, and also announced a new matte-dry ink for its iGen4 EXP. 

Global Imaging, which Xerox acquired in 2007, is an office-technology company that consists of a network of locally based providers in 34 states across the nation distributing hardware and software imaging products from suppliers such as Xerox, Sharp, Konica Minolta, Hewlett-Packard, InFocus, Equitrac, eCopy and more, and aims to have distributors in the U.S.’s top 250 markets. Earlier this year, Global Imaging Systems acquired Florida Imaging & Network Systems of Pensacola, FL.

United Business Solutions is  an independent distributor of copiers, printers, MFPs, and document management and software solutions in the Chicago area. United, which was founded in 1982, will be integrated into Global Imaging’s Chicago Office Technology Group (COTG), and will immediately begin offering Xerox’s full range of office printing systems, as well as Xerox’s managed print services.  

New Matte-Dry Ink

Xerox is making available a new matte dry ink for users of its iGen4 EXP digital color production printers. The new matte ink is designed for photo-printing applications for use in books, greeting cards, and calendars, a market that market-research firm InfoTrends predicts will reach $2.2 billion by 2014.  

Xerox cites these advantages for the new ink:

  • More consistent and uniform appearance across images’ highlights, mid-tones and shadows, which is critical for ink-heavy applications such as marketing collaterals, collages in photo books, and full-page photographs for calendars and greeting cards.
  • More authentic skin tones and natural colors while maintaining fine detail in background images.
