Xerox Acquires WaterWare Internet Services; Will Strengthen Electronic Health-Record Management for DocuShare

DocuShareXerox has acquired WaterWare Internet Services Inc., which includes among its offerings electronic health-record management solutions for streamlining, securing, and making filing and storage of patient documentation more efficient. Xerox did disclose the amount for the purchase.

WaterWare services include Web application and software development, integration and customization, including capture and management of electronic health records and automating pharmacy orders. These capabilities are now added to Xerox’s DocuShare® enterprise content management (ECM) platform, and will bolster Xerox’s offerings for electronic health-management record management.

DocuShare provides solutions for automating scanning and distribution of paper and other business-process automation services, and also includes third-party solutions for vertical and cross-industry processes.  DocuShare also gains WaterWare’s professional services team that works with organizations of all sizes.

Among WaterWare’s solutions are:

  • Aquifer EHR Edition, which enables hospitals and medical clinics to store electronic copies of patient documentation, including admitting records and medical charts.
  • Nile Pharmacy Order Management is a Physician’s Order management system designed to increase patient safety and enhance pharmacist productivity in hospital pharmacies.
  • Policy Manager adds advanced notification of approaching deadlines for documents such as policies, contracts, and certificates of insurance.
  • Scan Manager streamlines indexing and filing of scanned documents.  It’s said to be compatible with all scanners and MFPs, and will enhance filing accuracy, and lower the labor costs of filing documents into DocuShare.

WaterWare has developed technologies on the DocuShare platform for more than eight years as a systems integrator, and has been a Xerox Business Partner since 2003.
